"Thanks for the truth. I avoided $8.00 per night in extra fees on hotels.com, and found a lower rate on your site. Keep up the honest work!"
Jan M. Madison, CT
"I just used your on-line booking to obtain a government rate for the U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota at a hotel where they could not give me that same rate over the phone. This is almost too good to be true, but it certainly made my day. "
Jean, Minneapolis, MN

Welcome to RoomRate.com, your one-stop source for direct hotel booking rates in San Francisco, offering Discount Hotel rates within San Francisco's downtown area.

San Francisco, "the city by the bay," is located in northern California. With a population of over 700,000 people it is the fourth largest city in California.

In 1776 the city was established as a military post set up by a Spaniard named Juan Bautista de Anza. By the time the Mexican-American war broke out the military post had become a settlement called Yerba Buena but under the direction of Commodore John Sloat it was renamed San Francisco.

In 1848 gold was discovered in the state of California, a discovery that brought in a rush of gold seekers, settlers and others. Two years later the city's population grew from 800 to 25,000. In a short period of time, people from all over the world arrived in San Francisco.

San Francisco offers its residents and visitors temperatures that are mild and a beauty that surpasses most cities. Sightseeing is plentiful and some of the more popular attractions are: the San Francisco zoological park, San Francisco Museum of Art, Alcatraz Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART) operates between the city and east bay areas. Trolley cars, which are distinctive in their own right, offer relief for those hilly streets that the area is known for.
